An access log is a detailed list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a given Internet site. Any file which was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have just one webpage with three embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for any of the 6 files which were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log usually offers the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data which an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to prepare reports on the performance of an Internet site, besides the web stats your web hosting server may have created.

Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel features a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your web hosting
account and take a look at this section, you will find a list of all the domains
and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you will see a download link and also the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your computer and examine it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective right away, so if you no longer require one, you can stop it with a click from the exact same section of the CP. You will still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.

When you have a semi-dedicated server
account with our company, it will not take more than several mouse clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature could be permitted via the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this can be done separately for each domain or subdomain which you have in your account. Once you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. A single click will activate the log generation and a second one shall deactivate it, so you can control this function with great efficiency. A Download link inside the same section will permit you to save the gathered content as a text file, which you can then use on your computer. Even if the logs are disabled, you will still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
